You’re in luck.  Some background on me:

I used to power level accounts.  I have A LOT of experience with leveling quickly.  Most kids wanted their accounts leveled from 1 – 80 in less than 3 weeks.  It usually took me about a week and a half after I figured out the secret to powerleveling.  I would charge a lot of money to get 1 – 70 done, about 300-400 dollars, depending on the class and the faction.

Before I started power leveling as a job, I was just like anybody else leveling for fun.  I always outleveled my guild mates and friends and they use to tease me about how I should powerlevel for money.  Well, since I was strapped for cash ( a broke college kid), I decided to go ahead and do it.

Now, I knew where all the quests were, that’s how I outleveled people anyway.  But my problem was that I didn’t know in which order I should do quests in which area.   I knew I had to figure that out if I wanted to level accounts for cash or else people would think I was too slow and wouldn’t  order my service.

I went through free addons and fyi they all are bad, especially Quest Helper.  Not only was quest helper buggy, but with my experience I could tell it wasn’t any good for power leveling.  Quest Helper tells you what quests to do only in the zone you’re in depending on distance.  That is no good.  There was another one I tried… carbonite or something like that.  It was the same as Quest helper!

I finally decided I’ll just buy an addon.  At first I was a little scared too cause I was afraid I would be buying a product that would suck.  But I realized I spent money to play WoW anyway, why would I ignore this if it helps me level and helps me make money -ESPECIALLY- if it delivers on its promise!  I went to the website and kept reading it and it took me a couple days but I finally said what the heck and bought it.  Turns out buying that was one of the best things I’ve ever done!

When I went to Zygor’s Guide website, I was pretty much floored by what he had on it.  Every guide up until his guide were all PDF’s or were on a website, which meant you had to alt tab A LOT.  And if you didn’t know where you were going or you got confused you’d alt tab like 40 times within 3 minutes which meant you weren’t leveling fast at all.

But Zygor’s Guide is an INGAME guide.  So as you do quests and pick up items, the guide updates and shows you your progression.  It tells you exactly where to go and what to do.  And if you need to buy an item to turn for a quest, it tells you that way in advance.

It also has an arrow over on your screen that points you to the right direction.  I loved this at first but after it while it got annoying, so I just moved it off my screen which was pretty awesome.

The guide also has map annotations that tell you where all your quests are and notes that go into detail about your quests.  It is literally step by step guide pinpointing to exact locations so that you can level without even thinking about it.

It also has all of the class quests in here.  And if you’re a death knight,  it has all your class quests and the guide starts from where your death knight starts too.

Anyway this guide ended up making me a lot of money.  I got people to level 80 in about 2 weeks time, and if I didn’t feel like sleeping or seeing the daylight (lol) it would take me about 7 days.  People were pretty impressed so I ended up getting good reviews on the forum I went to and I made good money for a long time.

I ended up getting a pretty good job so I had to quit power leveling.  It’s a good thing I did too because powerleveling can suck, lol.  You spend a lot of time on the computer leveling, and it can hurt your wrist, give you blurry vision and hurt your muscles.  I used to get cramped up a lot.  

And that’s one of the reasons I made this blog:  I promised the people on the forum I’d tell them my tips and secrets on how to level fast and I think people who play World of Warcraft owe it to themselves to find a way to level to 80 quickly so that they can get to the really good stuff in the game.  Who wants to level to 80 for a whole month?

A lot of the people I leveled for were older men who had a family and a job and they didn’t want to spend all of their free time leveling.  And if you like alts,  you REALLY need this addon so that you can level them all fast. 

So my previous years of experience and Zygor’s Guide are what allowed me to level so quickly.   It’s pretty cool when your leveling process is almost automated with the touch of a mouse Click.  Here is the link to zygor’s guide below

UNLESS, you go to Draenei Area: Azuremyst Isle and Bloodmyst Isle.  Because draenei area has less quests if you’re not a draenei, you have a more straight forward path to level 20, easier than the equivalent blood elf zones (Eversong Woods and Ghostlands) because there’s too many quests in the blood elf zones.  There’s no point in doing a lot of the quests as far as powerleveling is concerned.  All the quests there can sidetrack people who are trying to get to level 20 fast.

If you level anywhere else for alliance 5 – 20, then you are already wasting time.  The layout of the zones up until Desolace are badly layed out as far as leveling goes (and horde have it worse as far as Desolace is concerned).  The only good thing about Elwynn Forest is leveling 1 – 5.  Hit level 6 before you get to the zone.

Before Wrath of the Lynch King came, it was still necessary to travel through the extra zones to level on the draenei islands.  With the latest expansion it’s even easier to go to the Islands as you can hit up night elf area by the docks in Stormwind.

Even at the reduced amount of quests that other races get when they go to the draenei isles it’s so much more compact that you’ll get to 20 faster.  Not to mention the greens and extra money you -will- get for your characters.

If you are on a pvp server and are leveling in STV (stranglethorn vale) a lot, you’re wasting A LOT of your time or everyone on your server are total wussies.

If you are spending a lot of time on low drop rate quests, you are wasting time.  And if you are the type of person who has to do eeeevery single quest, then you’re going to be wasting time too.

I had a couple answers:

1) Experience – I’ve been playing WoW since its open beta week in Nov ‘04.  I’ve played both factions extensively so after a while you just know where to go for every quest, exactly what to do, what items to be beforehand and in which order you do them.

That is the key to leveling fast.  However if you don’t have experience, then get a guide.

2) You can get a free guide if you’ve absolutely no idea where to go.  Questhelper is NOT the fastest leveling guide around but it works well when it comes to telling you where to go.

3) Class techniques – Mages, warlocks and rogues are the easiest to level (DK’s are too but you don’t get them until lvl 55).  In the above video you see a mage just blowing stuff up.  He has class abilities that allow him to do things like that.  Not all classes are created equal.

However, the most important ways are reasons 1 and 2.  Of course if you have those two down and you get a class that can level fast then you are at a better advantage.

If you’re looking to get a guide for power leveling an alliance character that you have to read on or offline then you’re wasting your time.  The only way to level fast is to get a guide that’s in game; a leveling addon.

All free guides point you to where to go in game, but they calculate their methods by the the distance traveled.  This is a big fallacy when it comes to leveling fast.  Travel distance should be taken into account but the PATTERN in which you do your quests will result in the FASTEST way to level 60 70 or 80.

If you are serious about getting to your desired level fast then don’t get a guide that you have to alt tab or minimize the game to read.  Free ones are okay, but your best bet is to get an addon that was designed to level extremely quickly but doesn’t violate any WoW TOS.
